C5 will accept the results of a quick test under the following conditions for enrolled children, their family members, and C5 staff.

We always recommend, without requiring, that you confer with your health care provider for advice when any Covid-19 related symptom occurs, so you and your child can receive the best and most appropriate level of care.

At Home: If one or more Covid-19 symptoms are first noticed at home —

A. For Children and Their Family Members Who Come to a C5 Center: Parents have contacted their medical care provider, if appropriate, and follow their advice, including if a quick antigen test is recommended. Parents conduct an FDA approved quick antigen test and the result is negative for Covid-19. They can immediately attend school on schedule at C5.

B. For C5 Staff Members: C5 has provided each staff member with a quick test kit that can be used only on the C5 employee for immediate work related purposes when one or more Covid-19 symptoms arise. When a symptom does occur, if they have contacted their medical care provider and been advised that they can a quick antigen test, they can conduct the test, and if the result is negative for Covid-19, they can immediately return to work on their schedule.

At School: If one or more Covid-19 symptoms are first noticed at school —

C. For Children:

Option 1. We will contact the child’s parents who can pick-up their child and leave C5 for medical processing and whatever else is required. The child can return to school once the parents have followed all of the steps in “A” above, or if they have met other SFDPH, CDC, and/or C5 requirements.

Option 2. We will contact the child’s parents who can bring their own FDA approved quick Covid-19 antigen test to school; administer the test to their child themselves; and, if the result is negative, they may leave their child at school to continue regular attendance.

D. For C5 Staff Members: The staff member will contact their heath care provider and if they are advised to take a quick test, C5 will provide an FDA approved test for the staff member to administer themselves. If the result is negative for Covid-19, they may remain and return to regular work.

Return to School —
If, at any time, the results of a quick Covid-19 test are positive, the child or staff member must seek additional advice. After that, only a negative Covid-19 result from a PCR test or a document from a licensed physician or similar medical authority will allow the child or staff member to return to school.

Documentation —
Written and signed authoritative documentation is required to be given to C5 for our records for:

-- All Covid-19 test results related to being at C5

-- Clearance provided in the absence of Covid-19 testing or for Covid-19 tests conducted by a physician and/or their authorized staff

Other C5 Policies Still Apply —
Please remember that all other C5 policies still apply once the Covid-19 requirements have been addressed. An example is that staff and children can return to school once symptoms are gone and they are well enough to fully participate. A few other examples are for how to handle symptoms of illness, such as fever, diarrhea, and vomiting once a child is diagnosed as free of Covid-19. The usual time away to get well will be required, along with your child feeling able and being able to participate fully in the program upon return.

Also, as usual, you are welcome to contact us if you have any questions or comments.

Cordially,

C5 Administration
]}]}
